About Us

DIPR

Established primarily to empower the Indian Armed Forces, The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has grown multidimensionally – adopting a more holistic approach by encompassing a wide range of disciplines. In 1949, the Psychological Research Wing (PRW) was founded under the Defense Science Organization and made significant contributions in the field, ultimately growing into a full-fledged independent institute.

The Defense Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR) is functionally human centric and revolves around two primary goals. The first area of work is personnel selection where the institute is responsible for adopting scientific and psychometric principles in the construction, standardization and validation of intelligence, aptitude and personality assessments. Given the high pressure work environment, the second key operation is the institute’s aim to cultivate the right atmosphere in order to enhance productivity and overall well-being at every level.

Vision

To emerge as a center for excellence in Military Psychology.

Mission

DIPR’s principal mission is to provide psychological support to the armed forces by enhancing mental health and operational efficiency within the system
